Brunch, Bloggers, & Booze
It’s almost time for another weekend, and then, Thanksgiving will be here (my favorite holiday)! But before we go there, I want to recap on last weekend. I was in Portland meeting a bada$$ group of blogger babes for brunch. Since I moved to Oregon and started my blog back up, there have been so many things going on and changes... you know, just LIFE. And while I’ve met a few great friends, it has still been a “struggle”, if you will, but a great one. I am still figuring things out with my blog, as I found most of us are, and I’m still searching for that sense of community here. But more recently, I’ve become more confident in the direction that I’d like to see my blog go, and I know that it’s a continuous work in progress. I think meeting this group of bloggers has contributed to that confidence. They were all so amazing and uplifting, and helped me come to the realization that I am not the only one trying to figure this whole blogger world out. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that we’re doing something we love and are passionate about, whatever that is, and that we should surround ourselves with people who support that.
Ok, so... on to the brunch and outfit details! We met at Tusk, a Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern restaurant. Just look them up on Instagram guys, link here, you’ll want to jump on a plane or in a car right now.
While I definitely consider myself a foodie, I am also very reactive to my environment and my experience somewhere. With that being said, the food was absolutely incredible; they had some traditional American dishes but with a Mediterranean/ middle eastern twist. They used za’atar, a seasoning, which reminds me of my father-in-law who is from Palestine. He cooks the most amazing middle eastern meals, and we always have za’atar. I’ve only ever had it when he serves it to me, so it was such a treat and made me miss our family back home. Their cocktails were amazing, appetizers were amazing, just all so delicious.
BUT.... the freaking decor of this place gave me all the feels. It was all white with beautiful marble countertops, copper fixtures, light pinks and greens, plants... it just made me so happy. Which totally contributed to my wonderful experience. As I mentioned, I am very reactive to my environment and enjoy being anywhere that makes me feel good. I came home to tell my husband about brunch and kept talking about the decor etc and he’s like, “ok but did you even eat?!” LOL. Anyway, go check this place out if you’re in the Portland area!
After brunch, my girlfriend and I went downtown to do some shopping. We both were in awe at how much we love Portland and just enjoyed walking around. They already had some Christmas lights strung in the trees and some decoration out. It definitely gave us a little holiday cheer! Can’t wait to go back when it’s full-fledge Christmas season! And we obviously made time for a photoshoot!! After all, it is all about the fashion!! I am obsessing over this skirt and blazer, both very trendy this season. I found these two very affordable pieces at Target. The skirt is from their collaboration with Who What Wear. The blazer is from the new line, A New Day, the white top as well. My OTK boots are Steve Madden, and I have been wearing them with EVERYTHING. They’re so comfortable and are easy to pair with jeans, skirts, and dresses!
